night chats

it's all a haze
a soft, velvety haze
enveloping me
comfortingly

your voice
uniquely yours
capable of exciting me
capable of lulling me to sleep

we speak of many things
we speak of everything
nothing is taboo
for, comfortable we are
in the other

i wake in the morning
turn my head and stare at the phone
was it all just a dream?

of hits and misses

the reason for the dearth of posts (for anyone who cares) is that i have been busy with stuff. hardly been home much in the past 2 or so weeks. and when i have been, i've been too busy doing other stuff to blog. today was the 1 day that i've had to be an absolute laze, hence the opportunity to blog.

was in sydney for my graduation, which was on the 24th of november. listening to the academic dons in the great hall delivering their graduation speeches filled me with a sense of awe. on a flippant note, it seemed quite harry potter-ish. what with the hall looking like the dining hall in harry potter movies and the graduands dressed in black gowns. graduation made all those years of academic labour finally seem worth it.

N was back in singapore for a week, after being away for almost 1 1/2 years. so, i had her and B over for lunch on wednesday. B, being the darling that she is, came over early to help me cook. for cocktails, we had stuffed mushroom caps, which was accompanied by pink (due to grenadine syrup) pineapple juice with a sprig of mint leaves. for our main meal, we had sinful (cholesterol laden) grilled lamb chops with roast veggies. due to me being a bit dumb when it comes to using my oven, it did not grill for a while :P but i guess in the end it turned out fine. and to round out lunch, we had sticky date pudding with raspberry compote and what was meant to be caramelised cointreau sauce, but due to technical issues (me not knowing the fundamentals of flambe-ing) it ended up being simply sugar and cointreau topped sticky date pudding. but it got no complaints, and B even helped herself to a second serve of it. it was really nice catching up with N after what has been an age. and she took a piece of news i told her a lot better than i expected her to take it, so i'm a happy bunny :)

yesterday turned out to be another nail in the coffin. the next chapter of my life is calling to me. part of preparing for NS included me heading off to the army market opposite golden mile complex in beach road to get some extra stuff. P who's about to end his 2 year stint accompanied me to help me get all that i'd require. after that we played a coupla games of pool and then we went to his place for dinner and a game of risk with his brother and cousins.

when i got home, my girlfriend/fashion critic was here :) that 3 year old imp is the 1 who'll tell me stuff like "you don't look nice with your beard. shave it off.. only keep your moustache.. then you'll be handsome.. LIKE RAJNIKANTH" seriously, her idea of "handsome" needs a bit of looking into. but still, i do adore her to absolute bits and pieces.
